Root Motorola Droid RAZR HD/RAZR Maxx HD (XT926/XT925) in less than a minute

After available on the market a few days ago, the Verizon Droid HD RAZR (XT926) and Droid RAZR Maxx HD have managed to obtain root access, as well as its international version – Motorola RAZR HD (XT925). So it’s not necessary to buy a developer device to achieve root access, since root access can also be obtained on a phone with a locked bootloader.

To achieve this we just need to download and run the exploit scripts, many folks successfully rooted in less than a minute. Thanks to a superb developer with username djrbliss (Dan J. Rosenberg) from xda who find the way and built the root exploit for new RAZR family, Atrix HD and Photon Q.

Take a look at Windows Device Manager, your device should listed there. If it is not listed, you must reinstall the drivers. Install Android SDK might be able to solve your problems

If I root a Motorola Droid Razr Maxx, can I use a Sim card with any carrier in Canada? I know I can root it, but for now I can’t unlock it. Verizon won’t give us the unlock code. I live in Canada and of course Verizon is Not in Canada. Thank you for any advice you can give me.

You don’t need unlock code to use Droid Razr Maxx HD overseas, you can use any GSM micro-SIM card around the world, except US GSM (AT&T, T-Mobile).

Sadly this is not true as I can attest from first hand knowledge. While in India, I was unable to use a local SIM card despite the claims by Verizon to the contrary. After much research, my sales rep finally got ahold of a VZ tech that knew the deal. Non-VZ SIM’s can only be used if the phone is rooted and unlocked.

USB debugging with MTP. Also, ADB doesn’t always jive well with a Windowds CMD. I rooted by manually applying each command in the bat file on command line. If you get an error then apply command again until you receive \*deamon started successfully *\. Of course this means your cmd must be in the same directory as the rest of the extracted zipfile. Titanum Backup is now running on my Razr HD.

I keep getting “ADB is not a recognized internal external command…” I have all the drivers installed and my phone shows up in the device manager. I can only select MTP or camera connection. No mass storage. My phones a Droid RAZR MAXX HD running 4.1.1. Any suggestions?

      That’s show ADB isn’t running properly…
Normally, after executing Motofail2Go, ADB will run automatically and you will get this message:
      * daemon not running. starting it now *
      * daemon started successfully *

Try to install Android SDK,if you still have difficulty.

The only problem I come across is the step where you do a bug report by holding both the power button and the volume up button. I never feel the second vibration. What am i doing wrong?

I was just in India also. A non Verizon SIM worked fine in Nepal, but the same SIM did not work in in India, nor did others. I believe this has to do with eim not being registered for security in India.

I followed the steps exactly and everything worked as it should the phone restarted and i checked to see if i has superuser and i did. I then installed a root checker to check if i was rooted and i was not. it said next to sudo: Not found. also on voodoo ota rootkeeper it is checked by device rooted but not checked by root permission granted. Dont understand what went wrong whe i was going through the root process everything went the way it should. Any help would be greatly appreciated

If you running Jelly Bean update, this root exploit wouldn’t work,
Try to use new tool called Motochopper.

Its January 24 and I think since this new update that came about a couple days ago has disabled rooting your phone. Because Mine says Exploit failed and Im not Factory resetting my phone seeing as how everyone i`ve read that has this problem as of a couple of days ago has said it still doesnt work. A Verizon rep said Sprint would cancel their unlimited data plan sooner or later and most people only root so they can use wifi tether for internet access for their laptops.

Hi. I live in Poland and just got my RAZR Maxx HD from the US.
It works fine with a foreign (European – Polish) SIM card but the only problem is I can’t use the Internet because data transfer doesn’t start up (I have a Polish LTE micro SIM card). It doesn’t even run Internet on a 3G umts network.
All other functions are fine: I can make calls or send text messages, I only can’t connect to the Internet using my carrier’s data packets (I can still use Wi-Fi).

How can this problem be solved? Is it also related with the need of rooting or can it be done without rooting? Thanks for any help in advance.

I have the same issue as Tommy-Ka. I live in Belize. When I put in the local Digicell sim it says sim is uncrcognized network. I hit ok and voice and text work but no data. I just rooted the phone but still no data. I was in Guatemala this week and tried a Claro sim, and the same thing. Voice and text but no data.

I too am wondering if there will be a way to get data working on this phone on non verizon network.
