Enable WiFi tethering on Droid Turbo 2 – Native Mobile Hotspot

As a new released Android smartphone with modern hardware and software, many users are expecting more features and capability of this device. One of the most desired feature is a tethering or mobile hotspot, and fortunately we can take advantage of tethering on the Droid Turbo 2 including native hotspot, USB or Bluetooth tethering. But there are some things you need to think about, tethering via USB cable or Bluetooth could be performed without any problem by using third-party app, but not for WiFi tethering on Droid Turbo 2 (XT1585).

 

If you want to perform tethering with the help of apps, you could try to use the most popular tether app like FoxFi that allows you to activate WiFi Tether without root access. Sadly, the FoxFi WiFi tether also does not work with this phone, just internet sharing via USB and Bluetooth and USB that can function properly.

Actually, this smartphone already has the official native hotspot or tether feature, which allows you to share your phone’s internet connection with other devices. However, this feature doesn’t support all Verizon plans, for example, if you are on an unlimited plan, then you have to pay an extra $30 USD for Hotspot Plan in order to use this built-in feature.

Here’s how to access the Mobile Hotspot Feature on Verizon Droid Turbo 2.

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Pick More menu, then choose Tethering and Mobile Hotspot.
  3. Tap Mobile Hotspot settings, choose Configure. From here you can change the Network name, Wireless Security, change passwords and more.
  4. To activate the feature, just switch it on.
