Root Lollipop update (D41520b) for T-Mobile LG Optimus L90 with new tool

LG Optimus L90 for T-Mobile (D415) was getting an update to Lollipop (Android 5.0.2) with software version D41520b or 20b. This is the major update received this mid-range phone, and the new Google material UI design on Lollipop should be able to make the device seem more sophisticated and has a better performance. Although the update was released a few months ago, or in April 2015, but there are still some folks who were not able to get root access, or they still have some issues after root the Lollipop update.

As we know T-Mobile LG Optimus L90 was released with Android KitKat inside it, and then we could get a root with a super easy way by using towelroot one-click app. Unfortunately, the app now cannot be used anymore because Google and LG have been patching it. But we do not need to worry as another root method for LG devices was introduced, although it’s not easy as towelroot, but this method is worth trying.

However, there is another good news, this Lollipop update brings even more opportunity to get the most out of this phone. Since the bootloader becomes easier to unlock, this means now we can install a custom recovery like TWRP and then flash a custom ROM. Now there are some custom ROM provided for this phone, you can choose between official 20b Lollipop based or AOSP based (CM12.1).
