Easily root I537UCUCNE3 software for AT&T Galaxy S4 active with TowelRoot

Previously, Samsung has released the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for AT&T variant of the Galaxy S4 Active with software version NC9, but the update is passed since it allegedly triggering touch screen failure. Soon after that, Samsung released the update for the SGH-I537 with software version NE3, which carries the official KitKat update also hot fixes brought on by previous update. Just like the previous OTA update, once upgraded your AT&T Galaxy S4 Active to I537UCUCNE3, root will be taken out.

The NE3 software changelogs we have mentioned in an earlier article, every little thing is almost the same as it’s still based on Android 4.4.2 and the file size is not too far. Requirements

  • Samsung Galaxy S4 active, AT&T variants (SGH-I537).
  • Enable the Unknown sources from phone Settings > Security.

  • Grab the latest SuperSU apk from Play Store or Chainfire site.

  1. Turn on and unlock your phone, find the towel root app (tr.apk) and install it. Some antivirus app might detect this app as Andr.Exploit.Ratc alert, just ignore it, it’s a root exploit.
  2. Once installed, open the app, you’ll see button, just tap on it.
  3. Let it work for about 15 seconds, and your phone will reboot on its own.
  4. After completely boots up, install/update your SuperSU app, in order to do the job properly, many folks recommend you to install v1.99r4. Usually it can be obtained through the play store, in case it still outdated, you can manually get it from Chainfire site.
  5. Now your AT&T Galaxy S4 active runs NE3 update should rooted now, open Titanium Backup or root checker to verify it.
