Android 6.0 Marshmallow has been officially released by Google in October 2015, there is no major UI changes like a KitKat upgrade to Lollipop (with Material Design). However, this latest version of Android updates still worth to wait as it will improve the overall user experience of previous version. Some of which are Contextual Assistance that can assist you without leaving your current window, better battery management with Doze, better privacy and security with the app permission, improved Android Run Time (ART) and much more. So running Android 6.0 on Motorola Droid Turbo 2 Marshmallow will increase the device overall performance and user experience.
As we know, the Verizon Droid Turbo 2 shipped with Android 5.1.1, which is the latest stable version of Lollipop. You could wonder why this smartphone is not released with Android 6.0 out of the box, a possible reason is the release of the device is too close with the release of the first stable Marshmallow.
When I will get it?
You shouldn’t to be worried, as the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 will receive Marshmallow OS update in the near future. Although there is no exact release date, but we sure as some of Motorola’s latest smartphone like the 2015 Moto X Pure Edition, has been scheduled for an OS upgrade in the near future, even the previous version of Turbo (XT1254) also has been on the list, and the status is still pending (Verizon Wireless) support.
Is CM13 available for Droid Turbo 2 ?
Installing a custom AOSP ROM like CyanogenMod 13 or CM13 requires you to meet tough requirements. There’s no secret that every Verizon device comes with locked bootlader, and they locked up tight. We can use the first Turbo (XT1254) for example, this phone have to wait several months just to be able to get root access, and the procedure is not newbie-friendly.
So, running CM13 (Android 6.0 Marshmallow) on the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 might be possible when the bootloader has been successfully unlocked and we can install custom recovery like TWRP or CWM.
