As promised by HTC’s Vice President of Product Management – Mo Versi, the Verizon variant of the HTC One M8 was getting a new software update to Android 4.4.4 (3.28.605.4) in the fourth week of this month. Aside from bringing the updated KitKat, the new software also introduces the HTC Eye Experience, a revolutionary camera software.
However, it seems that this update isn’t too good for those who desire to have superuser privileges or unlocking their bootloader, since there’s no root working method on the Verizon HTC One M8 runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat, unless your phone already unlocked/S-OFF.
We can’t say for sure what’s changed in 3.28.605.4 software update for the Verizon M8 since we haven’t found any official changelogs, but the significant changes are the Android OS version updated to 4.4.4 and it also includes the new HTC Eye Software, which helps your video calls and selfie activities to the next level. The Eye Experience improves your HTC smartphone’s front and rear camera with additional features that you have never experienced before.
In addition to the two major changes, new security patches might also be integrated in this update, the SunShine utility (up to version 2.6.1) that successfully unlocked the bootloader (S-OFF) on the Verizon HTC One M8 and then gain root access in 4.4.3 update, now can’t help you.
We believe that the man behind SunShine utility – Justin Case (Jcase), beaups, and others unnamed devs – will bend over backwards to update SunShine utility to work with most Android 4.4.4 firmware for HTC One M8.
For now, just hang on and reserve $25 USD on your PayPal account to purchase the SunShine license.
