Sprint finally approved the Android 5.0 update for the Samsung Galaxy Lollipop S5 Sport with software version (G860PVPU1BOC5). This is good news for its users, no need to be jealous with the original S5 which has been upgraded to Lollipop first. For the geek users who want to get superuser access on this phone, you can try to use the previous utility to root Lollipop (OC5) on Galaxy S5 Sport (Sprint).
As always, Sprint encourages you to download and install this official update Lollipop so you can get the most out of the phone, since Android 5.0 brings a lot of changes over the previous version. Inspired by the material design, you will experience bold, colorful, responsive UI and also fluid motion. In addition, you can expect better battery life with Lollipop, now you can also view the estimated time left to fully charge your phone, it’s displayed on the lock screen when the phone is plugged in.
Regarding superuser privileges, it seems you can still use the CF-AutoRoot (CFAR) utility which previously managed to make this device rooted. As long as the phone’s bootloader still unlocked the CFAR still usable, the tool already rooted the original Sprint Galaxy S5 after receiving the Android 5.0 OTA some time ago. If you really need to gain root on official Lollipop for Galaxy S5 Sport (Sprint), you can download the CFAR package (CF-Auto-Root-kltesprsports-kltesprsports-smg860p.zip).
But remember, it will increase is the KNOX warranty void counter. So you have to be ready to lose warranty after using this utility.
