In mid-January 2013, Verizon Wireless released an official OTA update for Galaxy Note 2 with Build number: JRO03C.I605VRALL4 with Baseband version: I605VRALL4, the changelog for this update only the addition of Android security patches for extra security, without any new features or bug fixes . Although only a minor update, however VZW encourage you to accept this OTA, as always, some users are reporting an issue after receiving the OTA update, their Galaxy Note 2 battery drain faster than before.
If your phone previously could last more than a day or 24 hours, and then after receiving the OTA update, your battery will run out faster, about 8-10 hours on a single charge, even if you have been turning off GPS / Location services, live wallpaper, auto sync, and setting screen brightness to dim.
For those who have a Verizon Galaxy Note 2 and getting battery drain problems after receiving the latest OTA, here are some tips that you can try to get over the problem:
- Try to charge your device to maximum (100%), and then make use of your device until the battery completely drain (0%) and turn itself off. It is normal procedure to make the Android system recognize your battery usage. This can be done more than once until the battery use return closer to normal.
- If the first method doesn’t work for you, you can think about doing a Factory Reset on Galaxy Note 2. Go to Settings > Backup and reset > Factory Data reset. Remember be sure you backup data first.
