When it was released more than two years ago, Verizon DROID DNA was a premium device with superb hardware specs, at that time not all flagship phones have the similar specs. Quad-core Krait processor with 2GB of RAM makes this device could run almost any apps and games flawlessly. However, due to lack of support from HTC and Verizon Wireless, now the OS is outdated.
The latest Android OS updates received by this device is Android Jelly Bean. HTC also mentioned that there will be no official Android KitKat let alone Lollipop update for the Verizon Droid DNA. The only thing we hope is to be able to experience the most recent Android OS through a custom ROM.
Thankfully, today CyanogenMod team has released the CM12 ROM which based on the latest Android 5.0.1 (Lollipop) for Droid DNA. This means we can download the CM12 ROM directly from official Cyanogenmod site that always updated with the latest build. The ROM shipped with full hardware support, which mean all major features such as phone calls, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Camera, GPS should be able to walk normally.
Keep in mind, at this time only the nightly build is available for you to download, it’s changing every 24 hours to include the latest improvements to the source code, however, it might also contain newly-introduced bugs. You’re welcome to help improve the ROM by reporting the bug to the developers.
If you want to install the CM12 (Lollipop) for the Droid DNA, you can download the ROM here. Prior to starting, be sure to fulfill the prerequisites:
- The phone bootloder need to be unlocked, or better if you gain S-OFF with Firewater or Rumrunner utility.
