Enable SuperCID on HTC phones and also how to restore it to stock CID

Once you understand how to identify your HTC phone’s CID, it is time for you to know how to change it to SuperCID, you might familiar with this since some ROMs, stock firmware or RUUs requires you to have it. SuperCID is the term that is often used on HTC devices that have a CID number 11111111, with those numbers, means that your phone’s CID has been unlocked and now you can freely flash any ROMs/RUUs from other carriers or region, as long as it’s still from a same device, that’s why they call it Super CID.

Almost all new released HTC smartphones could have a SuperCID, including the latest one HTC One M8. The main requirement that must be achieved before switching to Super CID CID is S-OFF, luckily now we can get it easily by using an exploit similar to Firewater for M8.

The following are the prerequisites and step by step how to enable Super CID on your HTC devices:

  • A S-OFF’ed HTC smartphone.
  • The latest version of HTC USB drivers, in case the HTC Sync Manager software already installed, get rid of it first.
  • A basic adb and fastboot knowledge.
  • Enable USB debugging on Settings -> Developer options.

How to enable SuperCID, also works on HTC One M8

  1. Head over to adb/fastboot folder, then open a command window from there.
  2. Connect your phone to computer via USB cable.
  3. Take a note of your stock CID number by following this guide, in case you want to back to stock.
  4. Run this command to boot into fastboot mode:
    adb reboot bootloader
  5. Now, run the following command to enable Super CID.
    fastboot oem writecid 11111111

If you want to revert to stock CID, you can replace the “11111111” with your specific device CID number, for example for Verizon HTC One M8.

    fastboot oem writecid VZW__001

// You will get output like this
    (bootloader) Start Verify: 0
(bootloader) Input CID is super CID
    (bootloader) Start Verify: 0
    OKAY [ 0.029s]
    finished. total time: 0.029s
