Amazon Fire Phone has received a major update to Fire OS 4.6.1, which is a forked version of Android 4.4 KitKat. Since the update brings a lot of changes over its previous OS version, then a few mods that we did previously could not be used again after the smartphone updated to the latest version, one of which is the installation of the Google Play Store on Amazon Fire Fire Phone running OS 4.6. 1.
After the phone is updated to KitKat, we require proper installation of Play Store files that are compatible with Android 4.4.2, the which include the Google Playstore, Google Play Service, Google Account Manager and Google Service Framework. Just like before, we do not need any special privileges, like root access to install these apps. Just download and install it, it has been tested and reportedly working.
You need to download the play store bundle, now extract the bundled app (apps.7z) with 7zip app for Windows and move the APKs to your Fire Phone. You must remember, you must install these files sequentially with the following order:
- Google Account Manager_4.4.2-940549.apk
- Google Services Framework_4.4.2-940549.apk
- Google Play services_7.3.29 (1866531-036).apk
- Google Play Store_5.4.12.apk
After successfully installing all apps sequentially, you can immediately run the Play Store app on Amazon Fire Fire Phone OS 4.6.1 and start downloading some apps. Although this method has been tested and reportedly working, but some users might get some difficulty.
The most common problem that often occurs is when you’ve got a white screen, but we can still improve it by force close the Play Store from Settings then clear the data and cache. A factory reset sometimes also necessary if you get another annoying problem.
