The new software update has been released by Verizon for HTC Droid DNA last week, this update is awaited by most of their users to overcome some of the DNA problems. However, not everyone wants to get the update via OTA (Over The Air), especially for Droid DNA with unlocked bootloader, since based on previous experience OTA updates may screw up their devices.
Most Android users would love when there was a software update (OTA) is available for their Smartphones, mainly because it usually brings extra features and bug fixes, especially if the latest firmware update brings latest Android OS update. But some users who have a rooted devices or running custom ROMs, they will not be able to get the update via OTA before return to stock ROM and relocking Droid DNA bootloaders.
HTC Droid DNA users now can stop receiving an OTA update notification even prevent Verizon to pushing future OTA. Thanks to a developer from xda with username nitsuj17 who developing a flashable zip to remove “Software update” from the device settings (HtcOMADM.apk, HtcOMADM_SettingsPlugin_VZW. apk), but it is also able to remove the OTA package (OTAPkg.zip).
By flashing this mod, Verizon will not be able to force you to accept the OTA update (tested to prevent 2.04.605.2 710RD OTA). Download a flashable zip from original thread by nitsuj17 and flash it via custom recovery (CWM or TWRP).
