Using Qwerty Keyboard, Mice and other USB device on Amazon Fire 2015 via USB OTG

Composing lots of email on your tablet by using a virtual keyboard could be painful. That’s because the on-screen keyboard has a sufficiently small size, so a user with big fingers will have trouble with it. It also happened with other activities such as painting or photo editing, as it requires precision. Fortunately, we’ve been able to use the full sized Qwerty keyboard and USB mouse on the Amazon Fire 2015 5th Gen via USB OTG (On-The-Go) interface.

This is not a new feature, since nearly all Android devices own it. The USB OTG Amazon on Fire in 2015 working out of the box, which means, you do not need to change any setting in order to utilize it. Simply connect the USB devices you want to use with this tablet and you’re on the go. However, there are some USB devices that require a bit of settings, typically it has additional app to install on the tablet.

But you need to remember, not all USB devices or accessories are compatible with Fire’s OTG. According sd_shadow’s thread on xda, there are only a few compatible USB devices or accessories available, for instance the Qwerty keyboard, mice, USB Hub, USB to SD card and USB ethernet converter. If you have tried your device and it does not work, then you can try to get the same devices from different manufacturer.

In order to use the OTG interface, you need a micro USB OTG adapter and a USB OTG cable. However, you must pay attention to the adapter and cable specs first. Say for example, a USB cable, you must pick a USB 2.0 OTG cable, since the USB 3.0 is simply not fit with the Amazon Fire 2015.

If you are still unsure what to choose, you can try to buy this adapter and this cable from Amazon, only for examples, since there are maybe a better or more affordable product.
