Common Motorola Atrix HD Issues/Bugs – Wi-Fi and Touchscreen

So, you just purchased a Motorola Atrix HD, great job you get a great device with affordable price. Once you try to explore the features of your new android phone you might discover several difficulties, which you are sure it is a bugs or issue.

Here are some issues / bugs experienced by some users Atrix HD which you may also experience on your android phone.
- The most common problem experienced by Atrix HD users is a capacitive touchscreen that over-sensitive, in case you experienced this you can solve it by giving a screen protector, try to order products that are thick enough to normalize the screen excessive sensitivity.
- Wi-Fi suddenly turn off while trying to connect to new networks, this might be caused by bloatware apps “AT&T Smart Wi-Fi”, you can disable these applications to solve this issue.
- The battery can’t last long, when you upgrade this phone from Atrix 2 you might learned that AHD’s batteries is more wasteful. Motorola have anticipated that giving “Smart Actions” apps that can be used to save battery, you can also combine it with Juice Defender Apps for best result.

    Why does my names on my yahoo contacts get deleted when my phone shuts off(supposedly have to turn off once a week to install updates???? ST***ID!!!!) And my phone will shut off and come back on all on its own…..NOT HAPPY WITH MY ATRIX HD PHONE!!! Those are just the 2 major issues I am having there are more…..about to sell and get a different phone(like go back to an iPhone!!)

    Since Jellybean update, I’m having Wi-fi issues. Randomly disconnects from my home network; even when sitting right next to the router. Motorola help center didn’t help at all. Had me reset to factoory settings. Went through a lot of re-configuration for nothing; still have the same problem. Like Debbie, I’m going to look at another phone.

      I was furious with my phone’s behavior after this update; especially since I paid for this out of pocket on amazon.

      anyhow, this has been working for me so far.

      I went to settings -> applications-> AT&T smart wifi-> roll back-> disable and it’s been stable so far.
      I don’t know if this is related, but under wifi, I pressed the three vertical dots in the bottom right corner to the right of the + symbol to reveal advanced. Then uncheck avoid poor connections.

      I hope this helps save an otherwise awesome phone.

    Lake Smith, I could kiss you! I’ve been on 4g ever since that last stupid update! Thank God I have at&t’s 2gig plan out my butt woul d be in trouble this month with my bill. I tried everything on other sites and your solution worked right away! I was messing with my modem, crazy numbers on IP addresses etc. When all I had to do was uninstall a stupid app! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I knew it wasn’t my modem. Everyone else in my house has Iphones and BlackBerrys. I love my Atrixs. Its my second one. And their service was fine. I’m eternally grateful!

    Lake Smith: I had same issues with my Atrix HD after the update to ICS. was dropping wifi everywhere, ever next to my router als. I just discovered the advanced setting also. I have set mine the same and so far the last two days seem to have corrected the problem. hwycomm80

    More problems now and phone is only almost 4 months old seems to get worse as it “gets broke in” my fiance’ has the very same phone and has NO problems (so far) at all with his. Like today I was having service issues and now can’t even get service. And it has frozen up on me twice since probably December and couldn’t do anything but let it slowly drain the battery which took several hours. Just WAY TOO MANY ISSUES with this one and def have decided to get rid of it!!!! I kept hoping it was because I was using a different operating system and learning how it worked,but have decided it is just a POS phone in my eyes!!! I could list all the problems I have had and am having,but geeeezzz the list keeps growing! :( WASTED MONEY!!

    This Phone Is Garbage……… I’ve Been Through 3 New Ones In The Last Five Months
    Same Problem . Turns Its Self Off And On. Will FreezeUp And Icant Turn Off Have To Let The Batt Die Out. This Is My 4Th One And It Has The Same ProbLem So MaD Im Going Back To Verizon

    My Atrix HD has worked fine until recently when an update was made, now when I try to use my phone with my Jabra Cruiser car kit which is bluetooth there is a bad crackling sound. I know it’s the bluetooth on my phone cause I took it back to AT&T and the salesman hooked his phone up to the Jabra and it sounded fine, then he brought out a different bluetooth device I think it was a jambox like Beats Audio or something and hooked my phone up to it via bluetooh and it made the same crackling popping sound. Motorola support was no help they said they have never had that happen before but the Atrix HD I believe is Motorola’s newest smartphone. I think when the last update was done it messed up my bluetooth. We even tried to restore the phone and it didn’t work. I was wondering if anybody else is having the same problem.

    I also have a Atrix Hd and my sister has the same phone. Her phone was doing the same problems. Her phone would by itself turn off the Wi-fi. I’m not sure if we got it fixed but she never had a problem until the last Motorola update, which that update also messed up my bluetooth. Motorola needs to find out what that update did and fix it or they are going to lose business. I wish I could help you with your problem though. Hope you get it fixed.
